Learn about Vass shoes
The Vass Shoes Story
In 1978, Laszlo Vass founded his eponymous shoemaking business to revive traditional shoemaking craft techniques. In a world rushing toward faster, cheaper, more machine-based production, Mr Vass stood firm in his conviction that the old ways are the best.
Vass shoes are still built on those principles and are made entirely by hand. It is almost impossible to find hand-lasted, hand-welted shoes outside of the world of bespoke, but with Vass every shoe is made that way.
Vass make shoes for a lifetime. Exquisite construction and high grade materials mean a long lasting shoe. When you buy your future pairs, it won’t be to replace your Vass shoes (they’ll still have plenty of life in them), it will be because you have become used to a higher level of craftsmanship and won’t want to go back to machine made shoes!

Vass Last Guide
We currently stock two lasts, K and F, to give you a choice between the modern and classic shoe.
The K last – the cognac brogue in the images – has quite a sharp chisel toe. It is very much the contemporary option and its relatively high toe box allows light to reflect off it incredibly well showing off a strong cap shine.
The F last – the dark brown cap toe – is the classic English round toe. It is best suited to traditional styles and is ideal for those needing a little more room in the toe. It is often advisable to order a half size smaller than usual when buying shoes built on the F.
